The Dansoman Area Virtuous Ladies of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with the Area School Outreach Ministry (SOM), brought together young girls from basic school to observe the International Day of the Girl Child.
On Friday, October 11, 2024, the group organised an educational and exciting event at the President Barack Obama Basic School at Dansoman’s Salvation Park.
This year’s celebration, held under the theme: ‘Girl’s Vision for the Future: Unleashing the Girl-Child for an Impactful Future,’ was attended by a delegation of pastors and their wives from the Dansoman Area.
Elder Nathan Ahwireng, the Area SOM Coordinator, addressing the students, outlined the values they should cherish and obstacles they must overcome.
Pharmacist Victoria Abeka, on her part, spoke on menstrual hygiene and the dangers of abusing emergency contraceptive pills, stressing the importance of maintaining good menstrual hygiene for positive reproductive health.
The wife of the Area Head, Mrs Rebecca Adjoa Sey, shared some experiences she had growing up as a young girl and advised the girls on what to do.
A significant highlight of the event was the introduction of Girl-Child Coordinators for lower and upper primary female students.
