IDENTIFY WITH CHRIST, WALK THE CALL

There was a season in my life when I deeply questioned my identity. From a young age, life threw significant challenges my way. I didn’t have the luxury of ease or abundance, but I did learn one thing early: how to lean on God. It was in the quiet, difficult spaces of life that I began to understand that my true identity wasn’t in my lack—but in the One to whom I belonged.

Today, identity is one of the most discussed—and most confused—topics in society. People identify as anything and everything: animals, objects, or curated versions of themselves designed to collect likes and attention. In the midst of this confusion, one truth stands firm: our identity in Christ is unshakable.

For me, it wasn’t a dramatic sermon or a high-powered conference that solidified this truth. It was life itself. The real moments—moments when I had nothing and no one but God. Moments filled with fear and self-doubt. Moments when I wrestled with questions like, “Am I enough?” or “Will I ever become what God has called me to be?”

I remember crying out in prayer, “Lord, if You’ve truly called me, then show me who I am in You.” And He did—not through lightning or applause, but through His Word, His Spirit, and the steady, quiet assurance that I am not defined by public opinion, but by divine adoption. I am His.

Ephesians 4:1 became personal: “Live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” This calling is not limited to ministry roles—it’s a call to live each day reflecting Christ, whether in the church, at school, online, or in private.

Being a young Christian today is not easy. The pressures of social media, peer influence, and ever-changing cultural expectations can make it feel simpler to blend in than to stand out. But I’m reminded of Psalm 139:14—“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” That truth lifts my head, not because I have it all figured out, but because I know whose I am.

Identifying with Christ doesn’t mean putting on a spiritual badge or pretending to be perfect. It means striving daily to walk in love, speak the truth, and live with integrity. Yes, I stumble. I mess up. But I get back up—because this journey isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about grace shaping us, day by day, into the image of Christ.

I’ve also learned the importance of community—friends who walk the same path, mentors who pray and speak life into me, and a church family that holds me accountable. Christianity is not a solo race. We need each other.

To Every Young Person Reading This…

Here’s what I wish someone had told me sooner: “You are not who the world says you are.Your worth is not defined by how many followers you have, how trendy your style is, or how many people validate you online. Your value is fixed in Christ.”

Identifying with Christ in today’s world is bold—it’s countercultural. But it’s also beautiful. It brings peace, clarity, and belonging in ways the world never can.

Wrapping it all up…

I’m not writing this as someone who has arrived. I’m still on the journey. But one thing I know for certain: there is no better place to discover yourself than in Christ.

So if you’re searching, confused, or tired of pretending—come to Him. Let your life echo the words of Galatians 1:24: “And they glorified God because of me.” Let your life reflect Christ—not because you’re flawless, but because you are His.
