“In a world where faith is tested and resolve is shaken, one truth remains unshakeable, the power of prayer.
On March 1, 2025, Apostle Professor Kwabena Agyapong Kodua, Vice-Chancellor of Pentecost University, delivered a spirit-quickening exposition on the theme “Unleashed to Stand Firm in Your Calling Through Prayer” at the PENSA Intercessors Assembly, igniting hearts and minds.”
He began by drawing a compelling comparison between Epaphras’ “wrestling” in prayer, as mentioned in Colossians 4:12, as the act of interceding.
He emphasized the critical need for intercessors in this present time, explaining that prayer is the foundation that helps believers stand firm in their divine calling.
Expounding on the concept of success, Apostle Koduah stated that while the world measures success by material wealth and achievements, true success comes from walking in the will of God. He boldly declared, “You are only successful when positioned in the will of God.”
However, the journey of fulfilling one’s calling is not devoid of challenges. There are temptations, trials, and tests along the way, and the only way to overcome them is by standing firm, through prayer.
Using the traffic light as an illustration, he explained that when believers face challenges, temptations, or calamities, prayer serves as God’s divine control mechanism. Just like a red traffic light stops a vehicle from moving into danger, God, through prayer, pauses us when necessary to prevent destruction. But when the path is clear, He unleashes us, pressing the green button to move forward.
He beautifully summarized this analogy by saying, “Prayer navigates us through the contours of life.”
Furthering his teaching on the importance of prayer, Apostle Koduah emphasized that survival is birthed in the secret place of prayer. He admonished the congregation not only to pray for themselves but to actively intercede for others. He stressed that while praying for oneself brings results, interceding for others unleashes mega results in their lives. The church, therefore, must never grow weary of interceding.
Expanding on his third point, he stated that prayer is hard work and engages every part of one’s emotions. He encouraged believers to combine prayer with fasting, acknowledging that though it is challenging, it yields phenomenal outcomes.
He further emphasized the significance of prayer in one’s spiritual journey, stating that public promotion comes from private engagement with God in prayer.
Apostle Koduah went on to highlight the profound impact of prayer, stating that it brings advancement, transformation, and growth in the life of a believer. He referenced the book of Genesis, explaining that when God rested on the seventh day, it was not because He was tired but because He had given man the ability to recreate. He explained that when God breathed into man, He deposited within him the power to create and transform his world. He concluded the point by saying, “The power to recreate is deposited in man, and the key to unlocking it is prayer.”
Bringing his sermon to a close, Apostle Koduah urged the congregation to invite Jesus into every aspect of their lives and to pray unceasingly. He reinforced that prayer is the divine tool that equips believers to do all things, everywhere. It is through prayer that they can stand firm, navigate life’s challenges, and walk boldly in their calling.
