The Lost Callings and Missions

Many young people today have lost sight of their rightful callings and missions, often due to early encounters with certain men of God or a limited understanding of God’s plans (Proverbs 19:21). As a result, one of the most common questions people wrestle with is, “What is my calling now, and where do I fit within the fivefold ministry?” (Ephesians 4:11-12).

Furthermore, many people are unsure of where they belong, and even those who think they know often lack a deep understanding of the ministry to which they are called. For example, I remember when the Lord gave me a clear word for one of the men I was praying with. I told him, “Bishop, God said He will make you a great entrepreneur in the mechanical industry.” However, he responded, “Osofo, are you sure? Because a great prophet once told me I have the prophetic gift and would be a great prophet.”

At that moment, I had to sit him down and explain the role and use of the prophetic gift (1 Corinthians 12:4-6). Abusuafo (Family), spiritual gifts are not confined to the four walls of the church. When we carefully examine Scripture, we find that God used more corporate men mightily than He did clergy (Genesis 50:26, Daniel 6:3). Notably, men like Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, and Daniel—corporate figures in their own right—were filled with the Spirit of God, enabling them to bring transformation (Judges 3:10, 1 Samuel 16:13).

Additionally, a significant challenge preventing us from “possessing the nations” is the belief that once someone is anointed, they must pastor a church or start their ministry (Matthew 28:18-20). However, brothers and sisters, God needs Apostles in the mines, Prophets in the oil industry, Teachers in law firms, Evangelists in academia, and Shepherds in the political arena (Luke 10:1-3). In every sphere of human endeavor, God is looking for people who carry the power and presence of His Spirit (Acts 1:8).

In conclusion, Scripture says in Ephesians 4:10-12 (KJV): “He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” This perfection isn’t limited to the church (Colossians 1:18). There are saints in the corporate world who also need guidance and equipment (1 Corinthians 12:22-23).

So, what then is ministry? Simply put, the ministry is whatever you find your hands doing (Colossians 3:23-24). Brethren, whatever work you do is a ministry given to you by the Lord. Let your gifts manifest. The earth belongs to the Lord, and everything in it is His (Psalm 24:1). This is why He has given various ministries—to help us steward the economy of the earth effectively (Genesis 1:28). Let us not confine our anointing to the pulpit once we realize we are called. Let us not lose interest in the work we currently do. If God intends to make us priests in His vineyard, He will make it happen in His time (Hebrews 5:4-6). Otherwise, we risk becoming self-ordained priests, which could lead to disorder within the body of Christ. The priestly anointing can never be restricted to a single place (1 Peter 2:9).

Blessedness in glory!
